Our son is still a little young for this toy, but even at 18 months, he LOVES the vehicle pieces. He's into molding the "dough" now and even tries assembling vehicles himself. I think this toy will help him with dexterity. The pieces are not TOO small for his little hands, but are small enough that he has to work at where he wants to put them. He'll grow into this toy and I think we'll get lots of use from it. Great value for the price!

These are great for my 2 years old son's chubby hands! It makes him able to built something that we all know what it is, rather than a blob of Play-Doh that only he knows what it is and who gets mad at you when you can't tell what it is!

I got this for my son when he was 2, as an airplane toy. This kept him quiet and busy for almost an hour. It allowed him to build cars etc before he was coordinated enough to accomplish it with his legos. A great toy. He's very sad that we've lost many of the pieces, but he still uses the suitcase for pretend games.

I have looked in the stores, and they don't seem to have anything that compares to the items in this kit. They have some kits that were selling for alot more than this item. The cheery faces included with this kit make for super cute and fun creations. I would say this gift is perfect for a child 2 1/2 years old through 4 or 5.

This is a wonderful way for little hands to create something before they have the coordination to shape playdough completely. My two year old can build a train, a plane and a helicopter (his favorite things) all on his own with this kit. He enjoys mixing and matching to create totally new inventions, too. The only thing that makes it a little awkward is that the playdoh is so soft some of creations fall apart too easily. However, if you use playdoh that is a little past it's prime -- it will stay together perfectly.
Highly recommend it for ages 2 and up.
